"Steel Magnolias" tells the story of a group of female friends in a small Louisiana town who support each other through life's joys and sorrows, particularly focusing on the struggles and triumphs
This theme was chosen to reflect this particular time in our lives. We were both born and raised in southern Louisiana where the film takes place. A lot of the characters and situations remind us of home & we have yet to meet a Southerner who hasn’t seen this film.
We moved to Texas with no friends or family and knew that a strong friend group was necessary to thrive in our new environment. While our fertility struggles are not as serious as a life threatening disease, our relationships (talking about y’all) have been vital to help us laugh through the pain. This movie is about faith, values, and strong community, all things that matter a great deal to us. As the movie states “Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion”, we surround ourselves with people that keep us laughing and positive.
To sum up, the purpose of this theme is to bring our friends together so that each of you can get to know one another and experience the joy that we experience by having all of you in our lives.
We highly encourage you to watch this amazing film to better understand the theme of the party. It is currently streaming on Max, you can rent it from the library, rent on Prime, or buy a copy at Half Price Books.
